Self-Assessment Essay

1.This semester, I feel like my writing skills still need improvement, especially when it comes to avoiding repetition and clearly explaining what the author or topic is really saying or asking. However, one thing I did well is being able to think about what makes sense and what doesn’t in my writing. I want to work on understanding and developing my ideas more deeply to better express what the writing is really about.

      2. What really helped me with finding different sources for my research were the Internet and library resources. My topic was about social media, and I wanted to explore its impact on our lives and the issues it causes in society. The library resources were especially helpful because they allowed me to find articles, filter subjects, and use databases to gather information for my research essay.

3. In this class, I learned a lot about improving my writing skills. I got to hear different ideas from my classmates, which helped me understand what to include and cite in my writing. Our class focused less on summarizing and more on understanding the deeper meaning of the articles. Quoting and paraphrasing were helpful, especially when I did reading responses for articles we read in class. Analyzing was another important part, where we discussed the articles together, and the professor explained what each section was about.

4. I haven’t made much progress on these strategies except for the critical analysis essay. Peer editing helped me see what went wrong, what I needed to include, and what I should add to make my essay stronger. A good way to start writing is by making a draft to organize your ideas for the article you’re analyzing. Then, when it’s time to finalize, you can add all the important information to complete your critical analysis essay.

5. What I worked on specifically for our writing assignments was following the requirements. For every piece of writing, it must be double-spaced, use MLA style, and have a 12-point Times New Roman font. For the heading, we include the professor’s name, the class subject, and the date in day-month-year format. We do this because it follows the style used by writers during the 1900s, especially in the “Individuals and Society” time period.

6. I focused on learning in class, but I didn’t participate as much as I should have, and I need to improve my speaking and communication for the future. However, I did share my writing during peer editing sessions, where we discussed ideas and gave each other feedback. We talked about how my writing could be improved.
7. I focus on analyzing different types of writing and exploring various ways to present ideas to understand what works best in different subjects and situations. And understand the context and meaning behind it.

8. I recognize and appreciate the different ways people use language, and I use these differences to improve my ability to communicate effectively and understand different perspectives in my writing specially with errors or mistake that can be useless into my writing so that could be useful for my writing
